A BIT OF HISTORY

Eugenio Faina was born in San Venanzo on April 2, 1846 to Count Claudio and the Piedmontese noblewoman Giuseppina Anselmi. After the Perugian diploma obtained at the Collegio Pio della Sapienza, he moved to Florence to attend the Faculty of Law, graduating in 1867 with full marks and honors. While still a student he decided to enlist as a volunteer in the Garibaldian ranks  probably driven by that patriotic and liberal sentiment. Eugenio soon showed great interest  for archeology and collecting.

In April 1871 Eugenio married the noblewoman Isabella Danzetta, daughter of the senator and patriot from Perugia Nicola, with whom he had four children.

Despite his law degree, Eugenio was mainly interested in agriculture, devoting himself to the study of agricultural disciplines under the guidance of the Marquis Raffaele Antinori. He managed to create, in 1887, the  Foundation for Agricultural Education, the current Agricultural School in Perugia.

Eugenio Faina died on his estate in San Venanzo on February 2, 1926.
